Unjangsan Natural Recreation Forest

Unjangsan (mountain, 1,126m) is the highest mountain in Jinan-gun(county). Renowned Neo-Confucian scholar SONG Ik Phil lived in retirement here and the name of this mountain was given according to his nickname, Unjang. Most visitors enjoy hiking from Unjangsan to Gubongsan where the mountain shows off its grand and graceful shape with deep valleys. Unjangsan Mountain Natural Recreation Forest is located in Galgeo Valley which were formed under Bokdubong (peak, 1,017m). Total 8 kilometers of Galgeo Valley trekking course uncovers the nude in nature preserving backwoods where slash-and-burn farmers lived dozens of years ago. Jebang Rock, Madang Rock, Ikki Falls, and Haguiso are major viewtiful points while following by the valley.

  • Maisan Provincial Park
    In Maisan Mountain, there is Eunsusa temple where the first king of the Joseon Dynasty prayed for 100 days. 80 pagodas are also one of must visit attractions in the park.
  • Cheonhwangsa Temple
    A branch temple of Geunsansa, which is the head temple of the Korean Buddhist Jogye Order, founded in AD 875 by high priest Muyeom
  • Baniram Rock
    Because this deep valley can be seen only half-day, it is called Banil which means half-day.
